Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Twins have traded outfielder Josh Willingham to divisional rival Kansas City in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Jason Adam, the team announced on Monday.
The 35-year-old Willingham is hitting for a .210 average this season with 34 runs batted in and 12 home runs for Minnesota. He set career highs with the Twins in 2012, finishing that season with 35 home runs, 110 runs batted in, and a .524 slugging percentage.
The 23-year-old Adam, meanwhile, has split time this season between Double-A and Triple-A in the Kansas City system. He was (4-8) with a 5.03 earned run average at Double-A and (1-1) with a 2.35 earned run average at Triple-A.
