The Minnesota Twins avoided getting swept in their series with the Texas Rangers, with a 6-4 victory on Thursday night.
Twins pitcher Francisco Liriano pitched seven innings, allowing only two runs on five hits, while striking out six for the victory. Delmon Young and Jim Thome each belted home runs for Minnesota.
The Chicago White Sox also won on Thursday, leaving the Twins with a three and a half game lead in the AL Central standings.
Minnesota begins a three-game series in Seattle Friday night.
