The Minnesota Twins defeated the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday 9-3, to increase their lead to seven games in the American League Central standings.
Denard Span had 4 RBIs, and Delmon Young hit his 17th home run for the Twins offense. Meanwhile, Minnesota's Francisco Liriano pitched 6 innings, allowing 3 runs and struck out seven for his 14th victory of the season.
With the victory, the Twins are now seven games ahead of the White Sox in the division with 18 games left in the regular season.
Game two of the series is Wednesday at 7:10pm in Chicago.
