Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Minnesota Vikings fullback Jerome Felton underwent an emergency appendectomy on Wednesday and will likely miss the remainder of the preseason, that according to a report by Dan Wiederer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Wiederer's report says the operation was a success and that Felton's expected recovery timetable is two weeks, but it's likely the team will keep him off the field until the regular season opener on Sept. 8.

Felton was the primary blocker in the 2012 season for running back Adrian Peterson, helping him to 2,097 yards and the 2012 NFL Most Valuable Player award.
