Vikings Hire Marciano to Fill Priefer's Role

Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Vikings have hired Joe Marciano to fill in as special teams coach while Mike Priefer serves a three-game suspension, the team announced on Sunday.

Marciano had worked the past 12 seasons with the Houston Texans but was fired toward the end of the 2013 season. He has 28 years of total experience coaching special teams in the NFL.

Priefer will be serving a three-game suspension for making homophobic comments toward former punter Chris Kluwe, but that punishment could be reduced to two games if Priefer goes through sensitivity training.
