Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Vikings will "likely" start Matt Cassel at quarterback for the team's Dec. 8 game against Baltimore, head coach Leslie Frazier said at a news conference on Wednesday.

Christian Ponder has not yet passed tests associated with the NFL's concussion protocol, meaning the team is moving forward as if Cassel will start and Josh Freeman will be the backup.

Cassel came on in relief of Ponder this past week against Chicago, completing 20-of-33 passes for 243 yards and a touchdown in leading the Vikings to a 23-20 overtime win.

In his two starts this season, Cassel has a record of (1-1) and has thrown for 483 yards and three touchdowns versus two interceptions.
