NFL teams closed out the preseason on Thursday. The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Denver Broncos 31-24 at the Metrodome. Quarterback Brett Favre did not suit up for the game, as Tarvaris Jackson completed 2 of 8 passes for just 2 yards. Joe Webb completed 5 of 9 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown to led Vikings quarterbacks in passing. Webb also had an interception.

Minnesota opens the regular season next week on Thursday at New Orleans, in a rematch of last year's NFC Championship.

Meanwhile, the Green Bay Packers fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 17-13. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was not active for the game. Matt Flynn completed 23 of 37 passes for 304 yards for Green Bay.

The Packers travel to Philadelphia to open the season next week on Sunday, September 12.
