Mankato, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson practiced in pads on Tuesday afternoon for the first time in the 2012 season and the first time since he tore his ACL and MCL last December.

Peterson was initially placed on the active physically unable to perform (PUP) list at the beginning of training camp, but the team put him back on the active roster this past Sunday.

The Vikings' running back had surgery in December to repair a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee, that after rushing for 970 yards and 12 touchdowns for Minnesota in the 2011 season.

Minnesota head coach Leslie Frazier said Sunday the team will remain cautious with Peterson, who has said repeatedly his goal is to be on the field for the team's first regular season game.
