Walsh, Vikings Beat the Titans in Preseason Finale

Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Marcus Sherels returned a 109 yard kickoff return, and McLeod Bethel Thompson added a touchdown for the Vikings who avoided going (0-4) in the preseason with a 24-23 win over Tennessee on Thursday night.

Bethel-Thompson finished the night 13 of 19 for 115 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Matt Cassel started the game for Minnesota and went 3 for 3 for 48 yards.

Matt Asiata led the Vikings rushing attack with eight carries for 32 yards in a night which many of Minnesota's starters sat out. Joe Banyard added three yards on seven carries.

Sherels also had an interception after returning a kickoff for a touchdown in the third quarter.

Blair Walsh hit a go-ahead 25-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to put the Vikings in front 24-23.

Minnesota will open up its regular season on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 12:00 p.m. at Detroit.
