Wild Put Harding on IR, Recall Gustafsson

St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Wild has placed goaltender Josh Harding, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, on injured reserve so he can make a modification to his treatment for that disease, the team announced on Wednesday.

“Over the next week, Josh will make a minor adjustment to his treatment protocol,” general manager Chuck Fletcher said. “Josh feels great and he looks forward to rejoining our team for our game in Winnipeg on Dec. 27.”

The 29-year-old Harding must miss at least a week, but last season he was out of action for nearly two months of the season because of complications surrounding his multiple sclerosis.

In 27 games played this season, the Regina, Sask. native ranks first in the NHL in goals against average (1.51) and is tied for second in wins (18) and shutouts (3).

To take his place on Minnesota's roster, the team on Wednesday also recalled Johan Gustafsson, who in (4-4-0) with a 2.95 goals against average in nine games this year in the American Hockey League (AHL).
