Wild Sign Highly Acclaimed Defenseman Dumba

St. Paul, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Minnesota Wild has signed its first round 2012 draft choice in defenseman Matthew Dumba, with the 17-year-old inking an entry-level deal on Thursday.

Minnesota selected Dumba with the seventh overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, and the defenseman just got done last week participating in the team's development camp.

The 17-year-old totaled 20 goals and 37 assists this past season with Red Deer in the Western Hockey League (WHL), leading all defenseman in goals.

He was also a captain of Canada at the 2012 Under-18 World Championships, posting a tournament-best 12 points en route to a bronze medal.
