St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Zach Parise scored two goals on Monday night, including one just 49 seconds into the first period, as the Minnesota Wild beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-2 to force a decisive seventh game in the Western Conference quarterfinal series.

After Parise put the Wild up 1-0 early in the first period, Mikael Granlund scored about nine minutes later to make it 2-0 less than 10 minutes into the game.

After watching the Avalanche battle back to a 2-2 tie, Parise scored the eventual game-winner in the third period before Jason Pominville and Marco Scandella scored empty net goals to secure the win.

Darcy Kuemper was relatively solid in goal, making 21 saves to earn his third win of these Stanley Cup playoffs for the Wild.

A decisive seventh game for this first-round series will now played on Wednesday night in Denver, Colo., with the winner advancing to play Chicago in the Western Conference semifinals.
