Minneapolis, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Minnesota Timberwolves front office has traded guard Wayne Ellington in exchange for forward Dante Cunningham, it was announced on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old Cunningham comes to Minnesota from Memphis, where he spent the 2011-12 season with the Grizzlies. He averaged 5.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest in 64 games played.

His three-year NBA career has brought him to three different franchises before the Timberwolves, averaging 5.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in that time.

Ellington, meanwhile, spent three seasons with the Timberwolves, averaging 6.5 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. He was originally drafted by Minnesota in the 2009 NBA Draft, going in the first round with the 28th overall selection.
