January 15, 2013 Updated Jan 15, 2013 at 5:53 PM CDT

Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday afternoon announced that the operation to repair Kevin Love's right hand was a success, with the surgery being performed early Tuesday morning in New York.

The procedure was to repair the third and fourth metacarpal in Love's right hand, which he originally injured during training camp and then re-injured on Jan. 3.

Love is expected to miss eight to 10 weeks with the injury. The two-time NBA All-Star has played 18 games for Minnesota this 2012-13 season, averaging 18.3 points and 14.0 rebounds per game in that time.
