Minneapolis, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The #14-ranked St. Scholastica baseball team opened its 2012 season with two losses on Monday to St. Thomas at Mall of America Field in Minneapolis.

Kyle Flagstad and Kyle Moody each had a run batted in during game one, but the Tommie scored three in the fourth inning to earn the 3-2 win.

Jake Nystrom picked up the loss on the mound for St. Scholastica despite recording seven strikeouts in the game.

Duluth East graduate Parker Olson had a run batted in for the Saints in the second game, as did Moody and Jake Casareto.

That, again, was not enough as the Tommies scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk off with a 4-3 victory.

Kyle Jensen pitched all seven innings in game number two for the Saints, picking up six strikeouts along the way.

St. Scholastica will be back in action this week for four games in St. Louis, with the first scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m.
