Hibbing, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Lakeview Christian Academy junior Anders Broman set a new Minnesota boy's basketball single season scoring record on Saturday night in his team's Section 7A quarterfinal game.

He scored 44 points in his team's 114-92 win over Silver Bay, putting him at 1,217 points so far this season.

Kevin Noreen scored 1,207 points in the 2009-2010 season for Minnesota Transitions, that according to the Minnesota Basketball Hub web site.

Earlier this season, Broman became the youngest player in Minnesota history to score 3,000 career points, and he is still on pace to break the state's all-time scoring record, which is also held by Noreen.

The two Section 7A semifinal games are now set after Saturday's quarterfinal games were played in Hibbing.

Fond du Lac will take on North Woods on March 14 at 6:00 p.m. in Hibbing, and Lakeview Christian Academy will take on Mesabi East after that one at 7:45 p.m.
