The Duluth Clydesdales and the Wisconsin Wilderness will begin play in the Superior International Junior Hockey League next month.
The Clydesdales will play out of the Heritage Center, while the Wilderness will be based out of the Northwest Sports Complex in Spooner.
Former Bulldog Rod Aldoff will coach the Wilderness, who previously competed as the Wisconsin Mustangs in the Minnesota Junior Hockey League. The Wilderness will have tryouts August 13-15 in Spooner. For more information, you can visit the Wilderness team website.
Although the Clydesdales do not officially have a coaching staff as of yet, former NHLer Butch Williams is expected to be among the coaches. Williams helped lead the process for gaining the franchise in Duluth. The Mustangs will hold tryouts August 27-29. For more information, you can visit the Clydesdales website.
In addition, the Clydesdales will also operate a women's U19 team under the same name, with their season expected to begin in October.
