Milwaukee, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Duluth native Hannah Curwin earned a spot on the 2012 U.S. Junior World Long Track Speedskating team this past weekend, placing second overall at the U.S. Junior National Championships.
The 19-year-old Curwin placed first in the 3,000-meters, second in the 1,500-meters, and third in the 1,000-meters.
Curwin, a Duluth Marshall graduate, and other Team USA members will travel to Obihiro, Japan to compete in the Junior World Championships from March 2-11.
17-year-old Hayden Norris, meanwhile, skated four personal best times in the Junior B division of the U.S. Junior National Championships this past weekend.
Norris, a senior at Duluth East, skated career-best times in the 500-meters, the 1,000-meters, the 1,500-meters, and the 3,000-meters.
He will next compete at the 2012 National Long Track Speedskating Pack Races in Roseville, MN on February 25 and February 26.
