St. Paul, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Duluth native and former Duluth East defenseman Derek Forbort was with his North Dakota team this weekend as they prepared for the NCAA tournament in St. Paul.
North Dakota, winners of the 2012 Broadmoor trophy, was awarded the #1 seed in the West regional and paired with #4-seed Western Michigan.
Forbort, a first-round NHL draft pick, has two goals and 11 asissts this season in 33 games with North Dakota.
He was the 15th overall selection of the Los Angeles Kings in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and is just now finishing up his sophomore collegiate season.
