(Northland's NewsCenter) --- Spending most of the season as the state's top-ranked team and suffering only one loss made it no surprise the Duluth East boy's hockey team earned the #1 seed in the Section 7AA playoffs.
The Greyhounds will play their first game on February 21 against the winner of a first-round game between #8-seed Cambridge and #9-seed St. Francis.
#3-seed Grand Rapids and #5-seed Cloquet-Esko-Carlton are the other two Northland teams in the Section 7AA playoffs.
The Thunderhawks will play #6-seed Forest Lake on February 21 while the Lumberjacks will face #4-seed Elk River on the same day.
The other two teams vying for a section title are #2-seed Andover and #7-seed St. Michael-Albertville, who will also play February 21.
The Section 7AA semifinal games will be played on February 25 at AMSOIL Arena in Duluth, as will the championship game on March 1.
