Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- UMD senior forward Travis Oleksuk signed on Tuesday a free agent contract with the NHL's San Jose Sharks.
Oleksuk, who just finished his senior season with the Bulldogs, has amassed 45 goals and 70 assists for 115 total points during his time at UMD.
In the 2011-12 season, Oleksuk finished second on the team with 53 total points in helping to lead UMD to the NCAA tournament for the third time in four years.
Oleksuk will join former Bulldogs' goaltender Alex Stalock in the San Jose organization. Former UMD forward Mike Connolly also signed a free agent deal with the Sharks last spring, but was recently traded to Colorado.
Recently, Zach Schneider sat down with Oleksuk to talk about his decision to join the Sharks and his time spent as a Bulldog.
