Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- UMD senior captain Haley Irwin has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) co-offensive player of the week after picking up her 200th career point over the weekend.
Irwin tallied two goals and three assists in the Bulldogs' weekend sweep of Minnesota State-Mankato, becoming only the sixth player in UMD history to reach the 200-point plateau.
The senior leads UMD this season with 13 goals and 36 assists for 49 points in 30 games, and she is also tied for 11th on the WCHA all-time scoring list.
The Bulldogs host Ohio State in the WCHA playoffs this weekend at AMSOIL Arena. Friday's game is set for 3:07 p.m., and Saturday's is scheduled for 3:37 p.m.
MOOSE LAKE NATIVE VICHOREK ALSO NABS WCHA HONORS
Moose Lake native and Bemidji State senior Montana Vichorek has been named the WCHA defensive player of the week after nearly breaking a school record in last Saturday's win over St. Cloud State.
Vichorek tallied one goal and four assists in the contest, finishing just one point shy of the school record for points in a single game.
She played a role in four of the five power play goals on Saturday night for the Beavers and also drew an assist on the eventual game-winning goal in the first period.
