Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- UMD senior captain Haley Irwin was named Monday as one of 30 national finalists for the Patt Kazmaier Memorial Award, given to the nation's top women's college hockey player.
Irwin currently leads the Bulldogs with 13 goals and 36 assists this season, and this past Saturday she scored he 200th career point in a home win against Minnesota State-Mankato.
Irwin was a top 10 finalist for the award a year ago despite playing in only 24 games for UMD due to the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver.
12 Bulldogs players have been in the top three for the award, but the program has never had a player win the top individual award in women's college hockey.
