Vadnais Heights, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Hermantown native and UMD sophomore Megan Mullen pitched a one-hit shutout on Tuesday afternoon in a 7-0 win over Bemidji State, and then she pitched again in the Bulldogs' 5-4 loss to Northern State.
Mullen struck out a career-high 11 batters in the opener while posting her second shutout of the season and 10th of her career.
Kierra Jeffers had three hits in the winning effort for the Bulldogs, including a home run.
Mullen then gave up eight hits and and five earned runs in the loss to Northern State. Erin Hunecke provided most of UMD's offense with a three-run home run, her second of the season.
Mullen, a former Hermantown Hawk, has pitched all 77 innings this season for the Bulldogs, who sit right now at (6-5) this season.
