Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- St. Scholastica's Mariah Hovick was named Tuesday as the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) co-freshman of the year for her role with the Saints this season.

Hovick led the team in scoring in 19 of 25 games this year, helping lead St. Scholastica to a (12-14) overall record and the UMAC tournament semifinals.

The freshman was also named to the all-UMAC second team, and teammate Kayla Heisler was given honorable mention on the all-conference team.

Superior graduate Laura Amys was named to the all-conference defensive team, and Northwood graduate Taylor Fellbaum received the conference's sportsmanship award.
