(Northland's NewsCenter) --- The St. Scholastica men's and women's basketball teams fell in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) semifinals on Wednesday night, ending their respective seasons.
The Saints men were led by Derek Steve's 19 points in a 79-73 road loss to Northwestern, a game in which St. Scholastica senior Chris Hamers scored a career-high 16 points.
Brett Tester added 13 points and seven rebounds for the Saints, and Jonah Dahlman finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.
St. Scholastica's season ends with a record of (13-13), as does the collegiate career of Hamers and fellow senior David Walsh.
The Saints women, meanwhile, were led by the 16 points of Mariah Hovick in a 71-63 road loss to Minnesota-Morris.
Caitlin McKernon also scored in double digits with 13 points while Haley Hoyer scored nine for the Saints in the losing effort.
The St. Scholastica women finish the season with a (12-14) record and will say goodbye to two Northland natives in seniors Laura Amys and Taylor Fellbaum.
