(Northland's NewsCenter) --- Three players with Northland connections were among the final roster of 17 announced Wednesday for the upcoming IIHF Men's Hockey World Championship.
Former UMD Bulldogs Justin Faulk and J.T. Brown, along with Grand Rapids native Alex Goligoski, will all play for Team USA as the Americans compete for a gold medal.
Faulk, now with the Carolina Hurricanes, won a gold medal with the 2010 U.S. men's national under-18 team and a bronze medal with the 2011 national junior team.
Brown, signed after this season by the Tampa Bay Lightning, will be making his national team debut.
Goligoski, playing with the Dallas Stars, was previously a member of the 2005 U.S. national junior team.
The IIHF World Championship runs May 4-20 with games to be played in Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden.
