Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The UMD football team ended spring practices in late April ahead of the 2012 season, in which the Bulldogs will be vying for the program's third NCAA national title in five seasons.
The Bulldogs were (11-3) a year ago and captured at least a share of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) title for the fourth straight season.
Defensive coordinator Todd Strop resigned from his position just before the start of spring drills, citing family reasons for his departure, and fourth-year assistant coach Tyler Yelk is filling in on an interim basis.
UMD's offense this season, meanwhile, will feature senior quarterback Chase Vogler and senior All-American guard Garth Heikkinen, among several other returning starters.
