  Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The St. Scholastica women's hockey team will play in the postseason for the first time ever in that program's short, two-year history.

• Duluthian Curwin Qualifies for 2012 U.S. Junior Team

  Milwaukee, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Duluth native Hannah Curwin earned a spot on the 2012 U.S. Junior World Long Track Speedskating team this past weekend, placing second overall at the U.S. Junior National Championships.

• NCHC to Play 24 Conference Games in Inaugural Season

  Colorado Springs, CO (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) will launch with a 24-game conference schedule when it begins play in the 2013-14 season, it was announced on Wednesday.

• 'Hounds, Hawks Stay Atop Minnesota High School Hockey Polls

  (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Duluth East boy's hockey team and the Hermantown boy's hockey team remained atop the state rankings this week, with the Greyhounds #1 in Class AA and the Hawks #1 in Class A.

• Yellowjackets' Strandberg Named WIAC Player of the Week

  Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- UW-Superior sophomore goaltender Drew Strandberg has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference player of the week after picking up his first shutout of the season over the weekend.

• Broman Leading Lions, Becomes Region's Top Scorer

  Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- A layup in transition was all it took last Friday for Lakeview Christian Academy junior Anders Broman to become the highest-scoring player in northeastern Minnesota basketball history.

• Bulldogs Fall to #3 After Split with Seawolves

  Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The UMD men's hockey team fell to #3 in this week's U.S. College Hockey Online poll, putting an end to a program-best eight-week run as the nation's top-ranked team.

  Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- St. Scholastica junior basketball player Brett Tester and senior thrower Alec Seely have been named this week's Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) players of the week.
