Barnum Falls in Class A Championship

By KBJR News 1

Nicole Smart had 19 points to lead Ada-Borup to its first state championship in girls basketball.

The Cougars beat Barnum 51-40 in the Class 1A final at Target Center.

Ada-Borup led from start to finish, but the stubborn Bombers persisted.

Forth-ranked Barnum trailed by nine at the half, then went on a 12-4 run to cut the deficit to 35-30 with 11:12 remaining on a left-handed hook shot by Megan Myhre.

Smart responded with a slashing layup and a long 3-pointer to push Ada-Borup's lead back to 40-32.

Katrina Newman led Barnum with 12 points, and Myhre added 11.
