Cromwell, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The last Northland high school football team to win a state championship came only a year ago, when the Cromwell Cardinals won their fourth nine-man title.

The Cardinals started the season (2-4) but rattled off seven straight wins to earn a section title and a trip to the state tournament, ending in that state championship.

Then senior quarterback Jordan Suhonen set four state records in that title game, running for 374 yards and five touchdowns in the winning effort.

Cromwell's three previous state championships came in 1995, 1996, and 1998.
