#1 Gophers Beat 'Dogs, Win WCHA Title

Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Amanda Kessel scored two goals on Friday night as the #1-ranked Minnesota women's hockey team beat the #10-ranked University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) 5-0 AT Ridder Arena.

The victory for the Golden Gophers extends the team's NCAA-record winning streak to 35 games and seals for Minnesota the 2012-13 Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) championship.

UMD is now (13-9-3) overall and (12-8-1) within the WCHA. Game two of the weekend series is set for Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Minneapolis.
