Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- There are all kinds of emotions that go along with hosting the NCAA Division II Central Regional volleyball tournament, but the two most popular with the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) Bulldogs are excitement and nervousness.
"I think I play a little bit better [at home.] There's not much more pressure, but there's more excitement," UMD sophomore middle blocker Monica Turner said. "Most of the fans are ours, so it's fun to be excited and have energy the entire time."
Bulldogs senior outside hitter Kate Lange agrees, but added that she expects the nerves to hit a bit more now that it's at Romano Gymnasium.
"Hosting in front of our home crowd, that makes me a little bit more nervous," Lange said. "But it's more exciting as well. If you lose you're done, so it's nerve-racking but super exciting."
UMD is (31-2) overall this season and will open play in the regional tournament on Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. against Arkansas Tech.
