Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota Duluth men's hockey team jumped out to a three-goal lead after the first period but Western Michigan tied up at three before Alex Iafallo scored the game-winner 4-3 on Saturday night at AMSOIL Arena.
Kyle Osterberg scored shortly after the opening face-off, just 11 seconds into the game, the second fastest goal in program history. Cal Decowski and Justin Crandall each scored for the Bulldogs in the first to make it 3-0.
The Broncos clawed their way back into it with three straight goals before the Bulldogs were bailed out by Alex Iafallo's power play goal midway through the third period.
Senior Aaron Crandall made his 10th start of the season and finished with 26 saves to improve to 5-5-0.
UMD (7-8-1) are off for almost three weeks before they host the U.S. National Under-18 Team on Jan. 3 for an exhibition.
