Macomb, IL (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) head football coach Bob Nielson was on the campus of Western Illinois on Monday, interviewing as one of three finalists for the school's open coaching position.
Western Illinois plays in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), and the Leathernecks posted an overall record of (3-7) in the 2012 season.
Nielson has spent 10 seasons as head coach of UMD, that experience coming in two separate stints with the team. In those 10 yeras, Nielson's teams have posted a record of (100-26) and won two NCAA Division II championships (2008, 2010).
The 53-year-old Nielson has also served since 2003 as the school's director of athletics, a position he's held simulatneously as football coach since 2008.
The third of three interviews for the Western Illinois position is set for Tuesday, with an official announcement from the school expected later in the week.
