Bulldogs Picked 4th in Preseason WCHA Poll

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth women's hockey team has been picked to finish fourth in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) preseason coaches' poll, it was announced on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs did not receive a single first-place vote in the poll after finishing last season with a (21-14-1) record to place fourth in the league.

Defending NCAA Division I champion Minnesota was picked to finish first by the league's eight coaches, finishing with six of a possible seven first-place votes. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team in the poll.

North Dakota and Wisconsin each received one first-place vote and finished tied for second in the preseason poll.

Below are the full results of the preseason coaches' poll, with a team's respective first-place votes in parentheses.

1. Minnesota (6) --- 48 points
2t. North Dakota (1) --- 40 points
2t. Wisconsin (1) --- 40 points
4. Minnesota-Duluth --- 32 points
5. Ohio State --- 24 points
6. Bemidji State --- 19 points
7. Minnesota State-Mankato --- 12 points
8. St. Cloud State --- 9 points
