Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) volleyball team has released its 2014 schedule, with the Bulldogs set to take on two of the nation's top-five teams from last season within the first two weeks of the new year.
UMD will open the season with its annual match against Northern Michigan and then will take part in both the Keweenaw Classic and the Colorado Premier Tournament before getting into Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play.
At the Colorado Premier Tournament, the Bulldogs will face both Tampa and BYU-Hawaii, teams that finished last season ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) Division II poll.
The team's first NSIC opponent will be Southwest Minnesota State, ranked No. 7 in the AVCA Division II poll at the end of last year, and that match will double as the Bulldogs' home opener.
The biggest matches on UMD's schedule are against Concordia-St. Paul, ranked No. 1 at the end of last season, and those come Oct. 11 at home and then again on Nov. 4 on the road.
