Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- If the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) football team wins its 15th game in the 2012 season, the Bulldogs will be walking away with a third NCAA Division II championship.
Senior quarterback Chase Vogler calls that scenario possible, but he also knows he will be a key part in UMD's goal to again win the national championship.
"They needed my best last year, and the couple games that we lost I didn't play my best," Vogler said. "Obviously, put that one on my shoulders. This year, senior year, hopefully you've got 15 games ahead of you, and hopefully I can put 15 good performances on the table."
Vogler started all 14 games for UMD in the 2011 season, finishing with 1,873 yards passing and 13 touchdowns. Add to that, he was also the team's third-best rushing threat with 646 yards and six touchdowns.
The Bulldogs open the 2012 regular season on August 30 on the road to Southwest Minnesota State, with that game scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start.
