'Dogs Picked Second in NSIC Preseason Poll

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) volleyball team has been picked to finish second in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), that according to the preseason coaches' poll released on Thursday.

UMD received one first-place vote in the poll, finishing second behind the six-time defending NCAA Division II champion Concordia-St. Paul. The Golden Bears received all 15 possible first-place votes, as coaches can not vote for their own team.

The Bulldogs finished the 2012 regular season with an overall record of (27-3) and qualified for the NCAA Division II tournament, where UMD beat Central Missouri before falling to Concordia St. Paul.

UMD will open the 2013 season on Sept. 6 at a tournament in Pensacola, Fla., with the Bulldogs' first home match coming on Sept. 17 against Michigan Tech.
