July 10, 2013 Updated Jul 10, 2013 at 4:17 PM CDT

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Duluth Denfeld senior Mel Jarvi has verbally committed to play softball at the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD), she announced via Twitter on Wednesday.

"Committed to UMD to play softball #BulldogNation," wrote Jarvi, simply making clear her intentions to attend UMD.

Jarvi will join the Bulldogs for the 2013-14 athletic year and is now part of a freshman class of seven players at UMD, including fellow former Hunter Alexia Klaas and Cherry, Minn. native Angel Dahl.

An official letter of intent has not yet been signed, according to the UMD athletic department, so the commitment cannot be commented on by school officials.
