Boise, ID (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Former University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) forward Andrew Carroll has signed to play the 2012-13 season with Idaho of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), the team announced on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old Carroll played last season with Hershey of the American Hockey League (AHL), appearing in 68 games for the Bears.
Carroll does have experience in the ECHL, having scored 30 goals in 61 games for Charlotte in the 2009-10 season. He also had 10 goals in 17 games for Greenville early in the 2010-11 year.
During his time at UMD, Carroll totaled 29 goals and 28 assists while playing in 153 games for the Bulldogs. He was a three-year team captain, and he was also the first-ever sophomore to be selected as co-captain of the UMD squad.
The Idaho Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars, and the team is also affiliated with the Texas Stars of the AHL.
