Ex-Dog Kurvers to Serve as Team USA Advisor

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men's hockey player Tom Kurvers has been selected to be part of the U.S. men's national team advisory group for the 2014 IIHF World Championships, it was announced on Thursday.

Kurvers, who is currently serving as senior advisor to the general manager for the Tampa Bay Lightning, has 16 years front office experience in the NHL to go along with 11 seasons as a player.

While at UMD, Kurvers helped the Bulldogs reach the 1984 NCAA Division I championship game and won the Hobey Baker Award that season as the most outstanding player in men's college hockey.

The 2014 U.S. men's national team will begin play in the IIHF World Championship on May 9 against Belarus.
