St. Cloud, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women's hockey assistant coach Steve Macdonald has been hired in the same role at St. Cloud State, he confirmed to NNCNOW.com on Tuesday afternoon.
Macdonald spent three seasons with the Bulldogs before joining that team's Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) rival, helping UMD to an overall record of (50-45-11) during that time.
He will join St. Cloud State's new head coach Eric Rud, who was hired in May, and fellow assistant coach Jinelle Siergie. Both the assistants are considered 'emergency hires' by the school, according to the St. Cloud Times, meaning they are on one-year contracts and will have to go through another application process for the 2015-16 season.
UMD will visit St. Cloud State Nov. 14-15 and Macdonald's return trip to Duluth with the Huskies will come Jan. 17-18.
