San Jose, CA (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) All-American goaltender Alex Stalock has made the NHL roster of the San Jose Sharks, it was officially announced by the team on Monday evening.

The 26-year-old Stalock will start as the team's backup goalie behind Antti Niemi, a position he was battling for much of this preseason with 23-year-old Harri Sateri.

Stalock was (17-16-4) with a 2.60 goals against average last season in the American Hockey League (AHL), finishing with two shutouts and a saves percentage of .912.

He's played in three career NHL games, posting a record of (1-0-0) and a goals against average of 1.68 in those contests.
