Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- There are four players with connections to the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) on the centralization roster for the Canada women's hockey team, with that list of 24 players being announced Thursday.
Current defensman Bridgette Lacquette joins former defenseman Jocelyne Larocque and former forwards Haley Irwin and Caroline Oullette as the UMD connections on the centralization roster.
The roster is essentially the 24 players who will compete for the 21 spots on the final roster for Canada in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
The final roster for Canada will likely be selected by late December, about two months before the start of the Olympic Games in Sochi.
13 players on the centralization roster won a gold medal with Canada in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, including Oullette and Irwin.
