Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) volleyball players Kate Lange and Ashley Hinsch have been named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) players of the week, it was announced on Monday.

The junior outside hitter Lange, a Hibbing native, was named the NSIC offensive player of the week after leading the Bulldogs to a (5-0) record last week with 75 kills and 45 digs. She posted two double-doubles in the five contests, and this past Saturday she became the 16th UMD player to ever reach 1,000 career kills.

Hinsch, a freshman setter for UMD, was named the NSIC setter of the week after playing in her first home games as Bulldog. She finished the week with 145 assists, adding 24 digs and five blocks for the Bulldogs.

UMD is (9-0) thus far in the 2012 season, and the team will next be in action September 14 at home against Northern State.
