UMD's Lange, Rainey Earn NSIC Yearly Honors

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) Kate Lange was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Player of the Year while teammate Julie Rainey was crowned the Libero of the Year, the league announced Tuesday.

Lange, a Hibbing, Minn. native, smacked 341 kills in NSIC play and a NSIC high average of 5.32 per-set. The Bulldog senior was twice named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week this fall as well as the AVCA DII National Player of the Week on Sept. 10.

Rainey led the NSIC with a 5.932 digs-per set average, totaling 350 on the season. The junior's top match was against Wayne State when she racked 30 digs.

Also joining Lange and Rainey on the All-NSIC First Team was sophomore setter Ashley Hinsch and middle blocker Monica Turner while junior right-side hitter Maddy Sirion earned All-NSIC Second Team honors.
