Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The trophy that will be presented to the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) winner, the Penrose Cup, was in Duluth on Thursday, ahead of Friday's game between the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) and North Dakota.

The trophy will make its way to each of the eight member schools throughout the season before making its home with whoever wins the conference.

Made up of silver and copper, the trophy is three feet tall and weight close to 100 pounds. No one is allowed to touch it without gloves on until the first team wins it next month.

The Bulldogs enter this weekend in fifth place in the NCHC but remain optimistic that by season's end they'll once again be challenging for the top spot.
