No. 3 'Dogs Sweep Mavericks, Ready for No. 1

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The No. 3 University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) volleyball team swept Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) foe Minnesota State University-Mankato 3-0 on Friday night at Romano Gymnasium.

The Bulldogs wer backed by 12 kills from senior outside hitter and NSIC Player of the Year Kate Lange. Freshman middle blocker Sydnie Mauch also racked up 12 kills.

UMD junior libero Julie Rainey finished with 26 digs and sits just 23 short of breaking all-time Bulldog mark of 1,703.

Up next for the Bulldogs is No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul. Head coach Jim Boos is looking forward to the regular season finale.

"It's really a great chance to play a good opponent in our home gym," said Boos. "We're hoping for a great crowd. We have nothing to lose so just go out there and play the best we can and enjoy the atmosphere and competition."
