Sochi, Russia (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) freshman defenseman Lara Stalder and St. Scholastica junior forward Nina Waidacher won an Olympic bronze medal on Thursday morning, each part of the Switzerland women's hockey team that got a 4-3 win over Sweden at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

Stalder had an assist on the eventual game-winning goal, one of four tallies in the third period for Switzerland, which won its first-ever Olympic medal in women's hockey.

Both Stalder and Waidacher were playing in their first-ever Olympic Games, with both now set to return to their respective collegiate teams later this month.

Sweden also had Northland representation on its roster, with former Bulldogs Kim Martin, Jenni Asserholt, and Pernilla Winberg playing in these 2014 Olympics.
